LU_Reflection to the Course

In the last few decades, government, state authorities, and multinational organizations have emphasized the importance of increasing the use of information and communication technology in every educational field (Kaminskiene, 2022). One of the lessons I take away from this course is the number of useful sites in foreign language acquisition. Government computers are blocking the usage of outside sources and websites, nevertheless, some websites can be recommended to students for extracurricular activities and grammar exercises. The significant development of technology is a part of social development and is deeply embedded into human everyday life (Cloete, 2017). No matter how much technology and innovation can challenge me as an educator, I must continue to devote my learning time to gain more knowledge and experience. Lack of access to technology.

Every educator knows that a lack of access to information, technology, and learning materials directly affects and deprives students of experiences, and limits students’ opportunities even after their graduation. After reading this week’s learning material and further investigating the negative effects on students with a lack of access to information, I came across an interesting case study. This particular case study reveals that most students preferred the internet as a source of information (Thindwa et. al., 2019). Most students need academic information to complete their projects and assignments, prepare for tests, and for their academic research purposes (Thindwa et. al., 2019). Technology Lesson Demonstration: Microsoft Teams The Black Board (BB) collaborative learning and teaching platform is becoming outdated for the Department of Defense (DOD) students to use when they are enrolled in the foreign language acquisition program nationwide. The new platform that has been utilized since 2021 is Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams improves collaboration and communication among everyone, students can have access to Microsoft Teams anywhere in the world, and so much more. At the end of the refresher course, my students are assigned to present a final project of their choice. A final presentation can range from Russian culture, customs, traditions, folklore, cuisine, tourist attractions, and other topics within Russia.   Differentiation through Technology The standard for instructions exists for a reason. The utilization of standards of instruction secures the teaching practices that are intentionally focused on learning targets, it also promotes high expectations for everyone in the class. The standard-based curriculum also promotes learning, which is based on students’ previous knowledge to comprehend new concepts. The new information becomes meaningful, easier to understand, and makes more sense because an educator connects new concepts to old ones. Some educators instruct differently because they view understanding differently, they are embracing the students of today, who can reimagine tomorrow (TEDxTalks, 2015).
